To change the default behavior of the Windows 11 laptop when the lid is closed, go to Control Panel and make the necessary modifications.

Step 1

Open the Control Panel

To do so, hit the Windows + R keys on the keyboard at the same time to bring up the Run dialogue box. Type Control Panel into the Run box and press Enter on the keyboard or click the OK button.

Step 2

In the Control Panel box, select the Hardware and Sound category.

Go to the Power Options menu.

Step 4

Click the link in the left sidebar. Choose what closing the lid does.

Step 5

From the “When I close the lid” drop-down menu, choose “Do nothing.”

Step 6

Finally, at the bottom of the System Settings box, click the Save changes option.

Step 1: Open a Command Prompt with elevated privileges.

Step 2: If a UAC prompt appears, select Yes.

Step 3: On the keyboard, type powercfg /hibernate off and then press Enter.

That is all. The laptop’s lid will do nothing the next time you close it, thus it will not go into sleep mode. When you want to enable Sleep mode when you close the lid again, repeat the steps above and pick the Sleep option from the “When I close the lid” drop-down menu in step 5.
