Four Backyard Transformations for Any Size Garden

Glass Railing for Decks: Pros & Cons - ALUMIGUARD MFG

Smaller, modest gardens and large, sprawling lawns alike are the perfect private spaces for you and your friends and family to spend some quality time outdoors.

Whether you have had neither the time nor the inclination to dedicate to making your garden and backyard as ‘put together’ and striking as the inside of your home until now, or else have only recently moved to the property, this article will help to show you ways you can quickly transform your space.

With that being said, here are four backyard transformations for any shape or size of garden.

  1. Hire a Pressure Washer

No matter the quality and condition of the patio slabs, both at the front and the rear of the house, you will be shocked at the potential changes a pressure washer can have, not only the slabs themselves but the property as a whole.

Companies that offer short and longer-term rentals of pressure washers, as well as a whole host of other outdoor cleaning equipment, are plentiful, so next time you have a spare afternoon, treat yourself and your backyard to a thorough industrial clean.

  1. Create a Small Pond

If you are to encourage wildlife and insects into the area, then, even in smaller gardens, a pond is a great way to encourage a wide variety of big and small critters into your home, as well as add interest and a focal point to your space.

You could, of course, head to the hardware store and invest in tools to dig a pond into the ground, but for a cheaper and quicker alternative, a large bucket or an old sink can work just as well.

Make sure whichever spot you choose has enough light but is not ensconced in sunlight for the entire day and that the container you use is lined with pond liner, even if it appears watertight.

  1. Revamp Your Decking

Instead of your decking looking tired and shabby and becoming more of a storage space for your garden furniture than the star of the garden, revitalize the entire backyard with stunning glass railings for decks.

In addition to sprucing up the perimeter of the decking, other ways to add new life to the space include:

  • Repair any holes and fix any loose boards
  • Paint a fresh coat of wood stain across the entire floor
  • Install solar panel lights along the wall above the decking
  • Upcycle your decking furniture and repaint any tired or shabby areas
  1. Introduce Shade with a Pergola

Throughout the summer, if your backyard is not surrounded by mature trees and other heightened foliage or flanked by other houses, areas of shade may be few and far between.

If you have enough spare cash set aside to invest in one, then a pergola is a fabulous way of adding height and aesthetic impact to the garden. The sun can be blocked by either drapes or a retractable canopy, both of which can be set away when you want to relax in the sunshine and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
