From 1 July 2025, RTOs must conduct and evidence pre-enrolment Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessments. Many providers were relying on paper-based LLN tools that were slow, inconsistent, and difficult to audit.

Results are scored instantly and stored as audit-ready evidence. Visual “spiky profile” reports highlight strengths and gaps, helping trainers make quick placement decisions and plan targeted support. Learners who meet benchmarks move straight into their courses, while those needing support are flagged for intervention.
This automation replaces manual marking and reduces administrative bottlenecks at enrolment.
LLND AI Assess: Faster, Fairer Essay Marking
LLND AI Assess tackles one of the most resource-heavy tasks: marking open-text LLND responses. Using AI, the tool analyses learner answers, drafts ACSF/ADCF-aligned scores, and suggests feedback.
Crucially, all AI-generated results must be reviewed and validated by a qualified assessor within the LMS platform. This preserves assessor judgement, supports fairness and consistency, and aligns with ASQA’s principles of assessment.

The project was delivered through close collaboration between compliance specialists, instructional designers, AI engineers, and RTO pilot partners. The rollout followed a clear pathway:
- Prototyping LLND assessments mapped to ACSF and ADCF
- Pilot testing with selected RTOs
- Iterative refinement based on real user feedback
- Scaled release supported by onboarding resources and training webinars
This ensured the tools were both technically robust and practical for day-to-day RTO operations.
